Did you ever wonder about the people who stand outside the church with "outreach" baskets the first Sunday of every month? They are volunteers collecting money for our Soup Kitchen and Feeding Ministry’s work. Our Parish has been supporting this work for over 40 years!
A group of our parishioners has risen at dawn Monday mornings to serve breakfast to the homeless at a program in the basement of St Stephen & the Incarnation Church in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington. For four decades the Blessed Sacrament Social Concerns Office has supported THRIVE DC with volunteers and funds collected by the Soup Kitchen Ministry. Thousands of people have benefited from these efforts. The breakfast program is one way that THRIVE DC helps vulnerable individuals take their first steps towards greater self-sufficiency. The monthly collection on Outreach Sunday supports the soup kitchen ministry and other food programs.
We need your help - it's easy, fun and rewarding. You (and willing family members!) can volunteer 10 minutes before and after Mass. To volunteer please contact: 202-449-3987 or [email protected] or sign-up here.
