Homebound Ministry

Our Homebound Ministry volunteers to bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass.  We work with people confined to their houses as well as those living in the six professional care facilities located in the parish boundaries.  

In bringing the Eucharist to our homebound parishioners, we are also telling them that they are still part of our Blessed Sacrament Parish community, and that the rest of the Community is one with them, and is praying for them.  We also watch out for the overall welfare of these people and try to connect them with other sources of help if needed.

In addition to regular visits from Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Mass is celebrated in the various professional care facilities on a regular basis.  The parish priests visit those living in their own homes every three months.

If you would like to volunteer for this Ministry, and are not already a Eucharistic Minister, you are required to do about two hours of Eucharistic Minister training.  No special skills or talents are required but a special concern for the sick and a desire to bring comfort to the lonely and anxious are beneficial.  It is important to spend some time with the person, and not rush the visit.  Being a good listener is also very helpful.

More volunteers are welcome and needed.
