Mini-Walk for the Homeless
Fannie Mae's Help for the Homeless program is the nation's largest fundraising program focused on homelesses. The program raises funds to support organizations working to prevent and end homelessness in the metropolitan area. The annual mini-walk on the National Mall is a fun way for parishioners and families to raise money and help homeless men, women and children in our community. A reception follows in the Duffy Parish Center.
Blessed Sacrament school participates in an individual "Walk for the Homeless" every fall (also sponored by Fannie Mae). The walk is approximately 1.25 miles through Blessed Sacrament's surrounding neighborhood. The students have the opportunity to learn about homelessness and raise money for homelessness. The money raised by the students goes to benefit the Catholic Charities Spanish Center in Washington, DC. This is a meaningful way to give back to our community in Washington.
