Alternative Giving
Every year, Blessed Sacrament parishioners have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas by giving their friends and family the gift of benefiting those in need. Participants can donate money to a wide variety of social services, including diapers for infants in shelters, clothing for the recently incarcerated, bus fare for job interviews, and a week's housing for the mentally ill, among others. In return, donors receive personalized Christmas cards inscribed with donor certificates, to give their families or friends. In addition to donations, the Alternative Giving program needs volunteers to make and mail cards and otherwise help coordinate this important effort.
