Sick & Homebound

Our goal at Blessed Sacrament is to ensure that everyone who desires to receive the Eucharist but is unable to come to Mass is visited by a priest, deacon, or an extraordinary minister of communion.

For The Sick

If you know someone in one of the local hospitals or plan to be there yourself, please contact at (202) 449-3987.  Priests and deacons visit local hospitals on a regular basis.  If we know that a parishioner is hospitalized, we will arrange a visit as soon as possible.  In addition, Sibley Hospital is staffed by two Catholic chaplains, including Father Thomas Duffy, retired pastor of Blessed Sacrament.  Suburban Hospital is cared for by the priests and extraordinary ministers of St. Jane de Chantal Parish in Bethesda.  Georgetown University Hospital is cared for by the Jesuit Community of Georgetown University, and a Catholic chaplain serves Washington Hospital Center along with priests from religious houses at the Catholic University of America.

Parish Resources For The Homebound

Those confined to their homes for various reasons are served by Blessed Sacrament's Homebound Ministry, which also serves people in the various professional care facilities located within the parish boundaries.  People living in their homes are regularly visited by an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist with a visit from a priest on a quarterly basis.  If you know of someone who is homebound and would like to be visited, please contact at (202) 449-3987.
