Filipino Community

Purpose Statement 

In response to God's love and invitation to be Christ's disciples, the Filipino members in this parish of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament organized themselves to be one in the mission of the parish and live in the spirit of love and service in the Church.

The Filipino community hopes to cherish the hunger for the word of God and for the bread of life in the Holy Eucharist. It also strives to bring members of the community together in prayer and in various ministries to the poor and needy.

Activities
  • Celebration of a Filipino mass in Tagalog (the national language of the Philippines) on the fourth Sunday of the month at 4:00 p.m.
  • Attendance in prayer group meetings in different homes every Sunday
  • Promotion of the First Thursday Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the parish
  • Providing children's care (baby-sitting) services at the 10:15 a.m. Mass every Sunday
  • Annual recollections: Advent and Lent
  • Annual dinner-dance fund raising activities (Fall and Spring) for the benefit of the parish and other needs
  • Attendance at the parish Wednesday Bible Study Group (Bread, Book & Brethern)
  • Small group bible sharing with the help of a speaker once a month on a Friday
  • Visiting prisoners to give spiritual support
  • Serving the homeless who are housed occasionally at the parish center
