Ministries
Ministries at Blessed Sacrament are ordered under five commissions: Administration, Community Life, Outreach, Formation, and Worship. Commissions coordinate and assist with all the ministries under their umbrella. Each commission is made up of one or two staff members, one or two members of the Parish Council, and a number of parishioners who are involved in the ministries they represent. The roles of the commission include coordination, communication, setting goals, evaluation, and in general supporting the ministries of the parish.
The Administration Commission is responsible for coordinating the temporal affairs of the parish: how money is acquired, how it is spent, how the physical plant is maintained, and how parishioners are kept informed about what is happening in the parish.
The Community Life Commission helps to ensure a deeper sense of Christian community for all people in the parish by promoting and sponsoring activities and events to bring parishioners together. The Commission also ensures that volunteers are recruited, trained, affirmed, and rewarded for their commitment.
The Outreach Commission coordinates the ministries of Pastoral Care, social services, peace and justice, and evangelization. Its scope includes outreach to parishioners and the larger community.
The Formation Commission coordinates all levels of education in the parish, from children to adults. Specifically, the commission would be concerned with children's religious education, youth formation, sacramental preparation, Christian initiation, small group faith sharing, family ministry, and marriage preparation.
The Worship Commission gives direction to the liturgical life of the Parish, as well as fosters and promotes the spiritual growth of all parishioners, helping them to understand what it means to be a baptized Catholic Christian.
Blessed Sacrament's multiple ministries serve myriad groups within the community: families, young adults, parents, women, men, the Filipino Community, teens, kids, and "seasoned" citizens, to name a few.
